Dear Jennifer,

2008 holds new ideas, new faces, and new goals for Dance Broward.

Our first Board of Directors will begin its development. Invitations will be sent to members of the dance community to ask for their participation and input.

On January 13th, Dance Broward will work with the United Way of Broward County for the first time, for their inaugural Hispanic Fiesta in Weston.

We will begin our organization of new programs, including our inaugral council meeting, Dance-A-Thon, and Community Expressions program.

This year is sure to be a busy, succesful and exciting year for Dance Broward and dancers in South Florida.  We hope you will join us in making a difference through dance!

Dance Broward!
On Dec. 9 & Dec. 17, several dancers and studios took time out of their holiday schedules to visit sick children at Joe DiMaggio's Children's Hospital and Chris Evert's Children's Hospital. SunDanz Dance Company (Dancer's Gallery), Ujimas Praise Dancers, Weston Dance Academy, Mrs. P's Dance and Acrobatic Studios, Dance Academy of North Lauderdale, Encore Dance Theatre, Singer Jordana Forrest, and Singer/Santa Anthony Cutaia.

Dance Broward! At Joe DiMaggio's, the performers danced to tunes such as "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Run Run Rudolph."  The amazing kids in the audience participated in dance interactions and sing-a-longs.

Dance Broward! At Chris Evert's, the dancers participated in a "caroling parade" through the children's hospital floor.  Dancers performed in the small hallways for the children who were there, while "Santa" gave out big hugs and candy canes.   Following the parade, the dancers performed in a large room for hospital staff and older patients.

A huge thank you to those who helped bring together the items needed for these events!

St. Thomas Aquinas Dance Company

The STA Dance Company spent time making 75 cut-out hearts for the kids at Chris Evert's Hospital.  They decorated and wrote "the joy is in our hearts" on each one.  Thank you so much for your time and creativity!

Ujima Praise Dancers

The group donated three large packs of red construction paper for the hearts. Thanks for your generosity!

Dance Academy of North Lauderdale (DANL)

Thank you for allowing us use of your amp and speakers! You brought the sound of the holidays to these hospitals.

Mrs. Mercy Alonso - DANL

Your donation of the candy canes for Chris Evert's Hospital made this trip much more sweet.

  U4RIA DANCE STUDIO

Dance Broward!Creativity and self-expression are two qualities that the new U4ria Dance Studio takes to heart.  From Hip Hop to Salsa to Ballet, their diversity mirrors the community in which they operate.  The studio has a youthful flare to it, as demonstrated on their bright and modern-styled website, which sets it apart from the more traditional dance studios found in Broward.

A father-daughter studio, U4ria came to life in December 2006 when Henry Castro was inspired to open the studio in full support of his daughter's, Adriana "Adri" Castro's, dream.  The two co-founded the Hip-Hop studio to give dancers an opportunity to experience multiple styles of dance, and allow them to focus on and take their dance careers to another level.

U4ria is located in Coral Springs and caters to dancers from amateur to professional.  Their instructors and choreographers focus largely on Hip-hop but also provide classes in Break Dancing, Lyrical, Ballet, Belly Dance, Zumba and Salsa. They assist and encourage dancers to pursue professional dance careers, but also support the art as a recreation. As Adri points out, "our dancers come from many different backgrounds but all share the same love and passion for the art of dance."

With dance parties and performances the first Friday of every month, U4ria caters to the growing dance culture.  Auditions for their first performance team are coming up quickly, and professional dancers from today's pop culture, such as Kameron Bink and other dancers from the popular SYTYCD, will be featured at their upcoming workshops.

In the future, U4ria hopes to expand and grow, and create new establishments in other parts of Florida and the United States. They want to continue their emphasis on dance being an important part of growing culture and the positive influence it has on today's youth.

"We believe that dance is an amazing way to enjoy life, so we have created a space where you will become an extraordinary dancer...we invite you to step into our world and experience U4RIA."

U4ria Dance Studio is located on the Southwest corner of Wiles Road and Riverside Drive in Coral Springs at 8256 Wiles Road.
